WRITING IN SEASON: Autumn & Nostalgia Starts Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Does the time of year creep into your prose? Do your written descriptions wax poetic as the leaves drift down? Join this facilitated writing group to explore writing through the eyes of autumn: bountiful harvests; mosaic landscapes; first frost. Each week, students will receive email writing prompts which suggest using facets of season can enhance writing (in 1000 words or less). Writing assignments will encourage observation and expression of environment. We’ll cross genres to stretch styles (non-fiction/fiction/poetry), although any written form is welcomed for review. During class, students will share their writing for facilitated peer review. Five Tuesdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. beginning Sept 27 through Nov 1 (Oct 25 excluded); $100. In the Neighborhood of the Arts. Snacks at every session! REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, September 19 Email InJupitersShadow@gmail.com to register or for more information. Starts Wednesday, September 20, 2011 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, September 19, 2011 through Writers & Books (their member discounts apply). So you’ve always wanted to write but never made the time. Or you’re not sure how to start. Or you’ve got lots of things, but nothing’s good enough to share. This is the course for YOU. Continuing the work of Creative Writing 101 (not a prerequisite!), we’ll use introductory, in-class writing assignments to explore the genres of fiction and non-fiction. Each week we will focus on a particular author and style—including popular favorites like Maguire (Wicked), Benchley (The Deep), and Grogan (Marley & Me). Students will get the opportunity to share their work via email for in-class peer critique. Snacks at every session. 8 Wednesdays 7-8:30 p.m. at Writers and Books Sept. 21 through Nov. 9 $175 W&B members/$180 general public |
